Hey guys!  It's been a while since I was on here...all is well. Since November, I've been working for a newspaper, writing and shooting, and doing some other photo projects in my spare time. I've got an exciting freelance project coming up in March, which I will tell you all about once I've finished my travels and gathered the materials I need for the story. It's going to be a very interesting nine days on-location.

Anyways -- just a quick hi, thanks everyone for all the new 'watches' and the great, kind comments on my work!  I will try to post on a more regular basis this year. ;-)

As most of us have been following in the news, the earthquake in Japan left much devastation in its wake.  O'Hanlon Eventing of Kingston, Ontario (Selena O'Hanlon rode in Beijing for Canada, and also brought home a silver medal from the 2010 World Equestrian Games last fall) has organized an online auction to raise funds for relief efforts in Japan.  There are dozens of awesome horse-related items. Some may not be accessible if you live on a different continent, but here's something that anyone can enjoy: I've donated two prints from the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games to the auction list, and bidding is taking place now! This is a rare chance to own photos from WEG, as the agency I was shooting for and the FEI do not permit the sale of prints shot with a media credential under normal circumstances.

The prints:

Print 1 (Item #35): Eric Lamaze and Hickstead, Olympic gold medalist and World Equestrian Games bronze medalist. This 11x14 print is autographed by Eric and will be shipped to you wherever you are in the world! (If you're quite far I might have to charge a bit of postage). Very rare chance to own something like this!

Print 2 (Item #36): Selena O'Hanlon and Colombo, Olympic eventer and World Equestrian Games silver medalist. This 11x14 print is autographed by Selena!

To bid, please "like" the Horses For Japan facebook page (www.facebook.com/Horses.For.Ja…), and then visit the following links. If the discussion thread freezes when you try to place a bid, email it to Morag O'Hanlon at eventer6@gmail.com

BIDDING ENDS MARCH 31, 2011

You can see an entire list of items at: www.horse-canada.com/?p=4634 . However, the high-bids are not up to date, so do go to the Horses for Japan facebook page to check out bidding history on the items.

Thanks everyone, and I hope you can help!

What can I say...going to the World Equestrian Games really was the opportunity of a lifetime.  I can honestly say that I've never worked that long and hard at a photo job as I did in Kentucky, but every minute was worth it and I came home with some awesome photos (around 150 gigs worth, oh my), a valuable learning experience and good memories.

My photos were published during the Games by a Japanese para sport photo agency called Paraphoto. (See some articles here www.paraphoto.org/2006/?articl… , here www.paraphoto.org/2006/?articl… , here www.paraphoto.org/2006/?articl… , and some photo albums here www.paraphoto.org/2006/?articl… , here www.paraphoto.org/2006/?articl… , and here www.paraphoto.org/2006/?articl… . I have no idea what they say.)

A few shots will also be published in a number of North American magazines during the fall. Links to follow!

I will put some photos up here as time allows. I hope many of you had a chance to see some of the Games on tv or even live...it was truly a spectacular event!

What an amazing place this is. I can look back over the past five years of my photographic experiences and see it all documented right here.

But what really makes this place great are you, the people. I haven't been very active here lately but I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has ever favourited or commented on my work. Your encouragement has played a big role in my push to grow in photography. So...thank you!  Without you guys, I might have given up. Who can tell.

In news - I've launched my new website!  It's simple, but a bit more pro than my old site.  Take a peek: www.meghanbalogh.com.

Also, check out my photo group on facebook!  I'd love to connect with you guys there.   www.facebook.com/pages/Kingsto…

After a series of last-minute and hasty events...I am going to the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky as an accredited photographer!

I looked into getting media accreditation back in March, but it was too late at that point. A few weeks ago I received an email from a freelance journalist whose photographer was no longer able to attend, and asked if I would fill in for her for 10 days at the Games.

For an event that has been held abroad for the past 20 years (Sweden, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Germany) just the fact that it's within driving distance of my home is unbelievably amazing!

It's a 12-hour drive to Lexington from where I am. I will be there from September 30 to around October 12 and will shoot dressage, eventing, jumping, paradressage, and driving...nearly two weeks of photographing nothing but the world's top horses and riders!  Unbelievable!

Last night I picked up a second-hand Canon 300mm f4 L lens. That on my 5D mk II, a 70-200 f4 on my 7D, and my 17-40mm in the bag should have me covered for gear.

Can't wait to share some photos with you guys!  Keep your eyes peeled at the beginning of October...
